This was the return trip i promised myself. It was our honeymoon destination but I have to admit i did not get on too well with the bugs the first time round. I took my son back there when he was 12 and we found ourselves with five other couples on a boat designed for 100. It was hot but early morning when the sun rose over the milky water of the Nile lighting up the pink shadows of the valley of the kings there seemed to be no place like it on earth. They were casting nets for fishing he same manner as their ancient ancestors must have done. And now we learn the Nile is choked with plastic debris and tourism is a risky business which is a sad thing to contemplate.
